Sowing our Wild Oats
Coastal EcoScapes, Inc. was started with a single goal in mind –to supply the
coastal regions of South Carolina with indigenous dune vegetation. The coastal
dune is a harsh environment on which few species of plants can survive. Of
these plants, even fewer are commercially available for revegetation efforts.
At Coastal EcoScapes we are proud to provide native species such as sea oats,
bitter panicum, and seashore elder.
Many
of the plants we grow occur natively over a large geographical area; however,
our seeds and cuttings are taken from South Carolina sites known to be of local
ecotype. So what does this mean? Our plants have the genes to make it!
They are adapted to the South Carolina coast and will be hardier, grow more
vigorously, produce more seed, and stabilize the dune more rapidly than plants
with origins in other climates.
We
are dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of our native dune system and are
available to serve all coastal property owners and managers by providing native
dune vegetation and/or plant installation services.
