Sea Oats (Uniola paniculata)
Sea oats
are
the backbone of our coastal dunes. These warm-season, perennial grasses
gradually create an extensive root system and colonize the dune
via
underground rhizomes. Sea oats provide the best long term protection against
erosion and add natural beauty to our coastal ecosystems.
Three plugs (288 cell
size) are pictured to the right. This is our most popular sea oat size.
They are economical and ready for transplant directly onto the dune.

Bitter Panicum (Panicum
amarum)
Bitter panicum
is
another warm-season, perennial grass species that effectively traps sand and
stabilizes the dune. Easily spotted in our native dune systems, it is
characterized by stout stems and wide, blue-green leaves. Once established,
bitter panicum readily spreads by underground rhizomes.
A single plug (72 cell size) is pictured. This is our smallest and most
popular bitter panicum size. |

Seashore Elder (Iva
imbricata)
Seashore elder is the only broadleaf (nongrass) species recommended for dune
stabilization. This warm-season perennial has succulent leaves, woody stems,
and a shrub-like growth habit.
A single plug (72 cell size) is pictured. This is our smallest and most
popular sea shore elder size. |

Back Dune
Species
Diversity is important in any ecosystem; therefore, backdune species such as
saltmeadow cordgrass (Spartina
patens)
and
gaillardia
(Gaillardia
pulchella)
are also available. Please keep checking our website as we plan to
diversify our availability as our company grows. And of course, let us
know what plants you would like to see us produce.
